Apparently, 8 restaurants have smoking permits that are being grandfathered in after the smoking ban goes into effect September 1st. You’ll be able to smoke in Shoal Creek Saloon and 7 other establishments until August 31, 2012. It seems unnecessary for the city to waive their permit fees, though; they should be able to name their prices as far as smokers are concerned.

now, these restaurants are already operating under a permit that allows smoking in a completely separate, sealed room with their own HVAC. seems like a reasonable compromise, to me… and avoids the tyranny of the majority.
